Seeking the Past
All 40 Shell Memories

Complete five Memories for each of Mortal Shell II’s eight selectable Shells. Track what you actually watched, recycle Glimpses safely, and diagnose a counter stuck at 35/40 or 39/40.

All 40 Shell Memories tracker

The game’s five-slot Memory list is the reliable checklist. These boxes follow that order as Memory 1–5 rather than inventing alternate titles. Tick a box only after the scene has played and control has returned. This is a manual browser checklist: it does not read your Steam or PlayStation progress. Progress stays on this device.

Fastest clean completion route

Unlock the full roster

Collect Tiel, Proxima, Gragu, Eredrim, Smert, Lazlo, Sariel and Genessa. Harros is the prologue Shell and does not replace one of these eight sets. Use the linked location routes above to close any empty slot.

Finish one Shell at a time

Equip a Shell, spend Glimpses with Zhirelle in the Shellkeeper’s Vault until Bond Tier IV, then open its Memory list. Play all five entries and tick them here before changing Shells.

Confirm playback, not purchase

Let each scene finish and wait until normal control or the Shellkeeper menu returns. If dialogue overlaps or the next Memory does not appear, leave the conversation and speak to Zhirelle again.

Recycle or farm the shortfall

Use Mether’s Severance only after recording all five watched Memories for that Shell, or collect renewable Glimpse Stones and break them through enemy kills.

Current Glimpse farming route

Launch guides that call Glimpses finite predate the Week 1 Update. The official notes state that Glimpses and Tarcores are no longer finite and that the new Glimpse Stone wears down through enemy defeats before breaking into Glimpses.

  1. Buy the limited stock first. Current guide data lists up to 13 Glimpse Stones from Merrick for 2,500 Coin each per playthrough.
  2. For repeatable drops, reach The Unfound Path and farm the Stonecrab enemies around its central pillar. The Chamber of the Forsaken approach is another current community loop.
  3. Equip one Glimpse Stone. Current testing reports that it breaks after 20 enemy kills and awards 3 Glimpses.
  4. Break it on a short, repeatable group: the bats near Blackridge Pass or the sheep near Sunken Village are current community routes. Rest, equip the next Stone, and repeat.

How to use Mether’s Severance

Give Mether’s Severance to Zhirelle to sever the active bond, reset that Shell and recover all Glimpses spent on it. Current guide data lists three sold by Merrick for 5,000 Coin each per playthrough; the official Week 1 notes say his stock can restock as the game progresses, so verify your current build.

  1. Max the current Shell and play all five Memories.
  2. Check its five boxes here and verify its in-game Memory list.
  3. Use Mether’s Severance with Zhirelle and move the refunded pool to the next Shell.
  4. Leave Genessa until late if your build cannot offer her the item; current players report that the option can be unavailable for Genessa/Stray Sester on some builds.

Community reports say already viewed Memories remain available after a reset and can contribute to the achievement, but the official patch note only promises the bond reset and Glimpse refund. Keep a save backup and verify your platform counter before repeating the method across the roster.

Community replay order

There is no official repair sequence. Recent players most often suggest replaying Genessa when the counter is exactly 35/40. If that does not move the counter, a reported wider order is Tiel → Proxima → Gragu → Smert → Eredrim → Lazlo → Sariel, checking progress after each complete five-Memory set. Other reports remain stuck after multiple replays, so this is a troubleshooting attempt rather than a guaranteed fix.

Seeking the Past FAQ

Do I need 40 different Shells or pickups?

No. The total is five story Memories for each of eight selectable Shells.

Does maximum Bond automatically count all five?

No. Max Bond unlocks access, but Seeking the Past asks you to watch the Memories. Open the list and play each one.

Is NG++ still required?

No for Glimpse supply on an updated build. Week 1 made the resource renewable, allowing all Shells to be upgraded in one playthrough. NG+ remains an optional recovery route for an existing save or unresolved counter issue.

Is replaying Genessa an official fix for 35/40?

No. It is a community-reported workaround based on the pattern of one missing five-Memory set.
