Peter’s Perfect Parry
7-Hit Timing Guide

Perfect Guard the later seven-hit headspin in phase two with the Untarnished Seal. The rapid spin that starts the phase is a decoy and does not satisfy this trophy.

Identify the correct seven-hit attack

The description sounds as if every spinning move matters. In practice, the qualifying move is one specific phase-two string. Do not spend an attempt on the immediate phase transition.

AttackReadTrophy?
Phase-transition spinA long, very fast fan-like spin begins immediately after the halfway transition. No
Short sweep stringAlternating head-blade sweeps end after roughly four contacts. No
Seven-hit headspinLater in phase two, he leans into a broad overhead or helicopter-like spin: two readable hits, four rapid hits, a pause, then the finisher.Yes

After the transition animation, dodge ordinary attacks and watch his posture rather than counting every visible blade rotation. Start counting only when the later broad headspin makes its first actual contact with your guard.

Best Shell, position and low-damage setup

Seal: mandatory

Equip the Untarnished Seal. Its timed block is a Perfect Guard, which is the action named by the achievement. Infinite Seal parries and Vatra Seal hardens do not meet the written requirement.

Shell: Eredrim

Eredrim is the practical first choice for his large health pool and Seal Affinity route. Players report that the affinity can make defensive timing more forgiving, although its exact interaction with Untarnished Perfect Guard remains disputed between current community tests. The Seal itself is the requirement; Eredrim is optional.

Weapon: lowest upgrade

Use the lowest-level fast weapon you own—an unupgraded Axe & Dagger or Axatana is ideal. Remove damage, Break and automatic attack bonuses. The weapon does not improve the seven guards; low damage simply preserves practice attempts while moving the boss into phase two.

Position: square and still

Lock on, face the boss directly and hold close-to-mid range on open floor. Release movement during the string. Side angles, backpedaling and wall pressure can make a blade contact pass beside the Shell, which breaks the seven-hit registration even if the input rhythm felt right.

Do not bring a summon, fire a sidearm, trigger weapon abilities or add extra Perfect Guards while waiting. Those actions can add damage or Break. You want the qualifying string to begin with the boss’s Break meter empty enough to survive all seven contacts.

The 1–2–3–4–5–6–7 Perfect Guard rhythm

Seven-hit Perfect Guard rhythm: two deliberate inputs, four rapid inputs, then one delayed input
Original seven-contact timing schematic; use it as a rhythm aid rather than a frame-perfect animation reference.
1Read the first broad contact. Tap and release.
2Second deliberate beat. Tap and release again.
3The fast burst starts.
4Keep the short, even tap.
5Do not hold Guard.
6Last fast beat. Release fully.
7Wait through the gap, then guard the final contact.
  1. Hits 1–2: use the visible blade contact as your cue. These establish the tempo; do not speed up early.
  2. Hits 3–6: switch to four short, even presses. Think “three-four-five-six” as one compact burst and release the button after every press.
  3. Hit 7: stop the burst. Let the visible pause happen, then press for the final swing. If you continue mashing at the speed of hits 3–6, the game reads an early guard before hit 7 arrives.

Timing caveat: current public guides group the middle contacts differently. Treat the 2–4–1 grouping as a practical input rhythm, not a universal metronome: watch the blade contacts, fully release each press, and preserve the clearly delayed seventh guard.

Why hits 6 and 7 often fail

The sixth hit sits at the end of the rapid group, while the seventh belongs to a separate delayed finish. That change causes three common failures:

Keep the controller neutral during the seven contacts. After pressing for hit 6, make the release deliberate: six—release—see the finisher—seven. Do not chase the boss during the pause.

How to exit and retry before the boss dies

1 · Stop

Once phase two begins, stop dealing damage. If the trophy does not appear after hit 7, wait for another seven-hit attempt only while the remaining HP is comfortable.

2 · Exit

If the boss is one punish from death, pause and choose Quit to Main Menu while the encounter is still active. Do not land a finishing blow.

3 · Reload

Continue the save and return from the latest Beacon/checkpoint. The boss fight resets, giving you another full health bar to stage the attempt.

Dying also resets the encounter, but a normal menu exit is cleaner when you are deliberately preserving the boss. Never interrupt the game while a save indicator is active. If the boss has already died and the result has saved, this campaign no longer contains a repeat encounter.

Recovering Peter’s Perfect Parry in NG+

The Nameless Captive returns when you revisit Prisoner’s Domain in New Game+. The trophy condition is unchanged: use Untarnished Seal and Perfect Guard the same later seven-hit phase-two string. NG+ enemies are stronger, so preparation matters more.

  1. Enter NG+ only after finishing any first-cycle cleanup you still need.
  2. Confirm that Untarnished Seal is available and equipped before the Prisoner’s Domain boss route.
  3. Use survivability upgrades, but strip damage and Break bonuses before the attempt.
  4. Push to phase two with controlled damage, then use the same empty-meter and square-position setup.
  5. Quit to the menu before a failed low-HP attempt becomes a kill.

If NG+ damage makes practice inconsistent, use a durable Shell and healing for the approach, then swap to the low-damage weapon before crossing the arena trigger. The achievement is tied to the seven Perfect Guards, not the weapon used to reach phase two.

Troubleshooting checklist

Peter’s Perfect Parry FAQ

Is the phase-two transition spin the trophy attack?

No. Wait for the separate seven-hit headspin used later in phase two.

Can I use Infinite Seal?

No. The achievement explicitly requires Untarnished Seal and Perfect Guards.

Do all seven guards need to happen in one string?

Yes. A miss, normal block, whiff or early Break interrupts the qualifying sequence.

When should the trophy unlock?

Successful reports place the unlock immediately after the seventh Perfect Guard, before the boss dies.

Verification note: reviewed September 7, 2026 against the PowerPyx trophy guide and video reference, the official Steam update feed, and recent player reports about the seven-hit cadence, Break interruption and late-hit positioning. The timing diagram is an original schematic, not a gameplay capture. Shell-affinity behavior is marked as version-sensitive because player reports conflict.
