Mortal Shell 2
Beginner Guide

Finish the opening route, use Marrow Keep as your reset point, and learn one safe combat decision before chasing every side path. This page keeps the first session clear without turning it into a build checklist.

1. Finish the Prologue before exploring

The opening route gives you the basic rhythm, your first Shell and the Sacred Egg that opens Marrow Keep. Do not worry about perfect collection on the first pass: the useful goal is reaching the next clear interaction, then moving on.

2. Practise one defensive answer

Early fights are easier when you stop treating every opening as an attack window. Learn the distance of one enemy, make a short commitment, then leave room to recover. Use the early encounters to practise your defensive timing and to recognise when a longer attack chain is unsafe.

When you find a route difficult, do not immediately swap every piece of equipment. Repeat one small encounter, change one decision—spacing, timing or target priority—and see what actually changes.

3. Use Marrow Keep before committing to a region

After handing in the Sacred Egg, speak to the hub characters, unlock the Marrow Keep Beacon and complete the available training. The Dew Forge becomes the place to return with exploration materials when you want weapon upgrades; it is not a reason to stop progressing until every option is unlocked.

Follow the Marrow Keep walkthrough in order. It covers the hand-in, Beacon, training, Forge path and regional gateway without burying them in a general hub guide.

4. Pick a route, not a tier list

For a first run, choose the next named region and collect only what is directly useful on that route. Widow's Overlook is the current first regional walkthrough, with its Beacon path, Martyr's Tomb and Tiel route documented separately.

5. Keep the first session simple

A productive first session ends with a clear next destination, a Beacon you can return to and one combat choice you understand. Leave exhaustive collection for the dedicated pages; the route archive is built so you can return for a missed item without restarting the whole exploration loop.
